Easy Street Mystery

Well I have decided to take the plunge! I also have started a blog to follow my progress.
Bonnie Hunter over at Quiltville each year puts out a totally amazing mystery quilt. Over a period of time she puts out the clues, which everyone follows and eventually there is a reveal where everyone gets to put their quilts together. The last few years the quilts have been totally amazing.
This year Bonnie has decided to do a quilt she is calling "Easy Street" I sure am hoping thast the pattern will follow it's name and be doable over the holidays.
Several weeks ago she posted a colour combination which should make for some really interesting quilts. As to the first linky it is evident that not all are following this combination. I can hardly wait to see some of these as the quilts start to come together.
So I scoured my stash carefully to see what type of fabric that I could make this mystery from. After carefully considering a couple of choices, I decided to go with Civil War prints. Lucky for me I have collected shirting prints for several years with no real quilt in mind, so that was a great starting point.

In my stash I found a wonderful grey print that has been there for a very long time, as I don't normally use grey very much. So, with those two being a great start I went back to my stash for the other three colours of turquoise, green and purple that the palette called for. Instead of lime green I chose to go with the interesting poison green prints. I added some purples that I had been collecting for a while for another quilt from a local designer here called "Saskatoon Pie". As I went looking for turquoise the hardest of all the prints to find I was able to find very few so will need to make do with what I have. I have started the first clue that was posted last Friday. I diligently cut all my strips, sewed half up into twosies and then foursies, spinning them the way Bonnie showed on her blog and have them ironed and ready to go. Now I need to apply myself and get the other half finished before the next clue posts. Here are my fabric choices.
Hopefully I will be successful in doing a linky to Bonnie Hunters other participants
